How much head height or room space do I lose with internal wall insulation?

Most IWI systems we install in Leeds and Wakefield homes use 50–80mm of insulated plasterboard against the external walls, meaning each treated wall comes inward by roughly 60–95mm including finishes. We map this precisely at survey so you know exactly where sockets, radiators and skirtings will land before we start.

Will IWI cause damp or condensation in my solid-wall property?

Not when it is designed correctly. We calculate U-values, specify vapour control layers, and detail reveals, junctions and service penetrations to BR 262 and PAS 2035 principles. Done properly, IWI raises internal surface temperatures and actually reduces the risk of surface condensation and mould.

What U-value should my walls achieve after IWI?

Current UK Building Regulations (Part L) target a U-value of 0.30 W/m²K or better for existing solid walls being upgraded. We routinely achieve 0.28–0.30 W/m²K using mineral wool or PIR-backed insulated plasterboard, depending on the build-up and space available.

Do I need to move out while you install IWI?

No. We work room-by-room, dust-sheet everything, and protect floors and furniture. Most homes stay fully lived-in throughout the install — we'll always sequence the works around bedrooms and kitchens.

Is internal wall insulation suitable for my Victorian terrace?

We then specify the right vapour control layer for your build-up, and detail junctions at floors, ceilings and party walls so warm, moist air can't bypass the insulation and condense on cold surfaces.
