Loft Insulation

The fastest payback in your home — done to current Building Regs.

A properly insulated loft is still the single most cost-effective energy upgrade for the average Leeds or Wakefield home. We install fresh insulation and top up older layers to current Part L depth — neatly, completely, and with the ventilation detail done right.

Why depth and detail matter

Most lofts we survey around Rothwell, Oulton and Methley still have just 100–150mm of older insulation — well below today's 270mm Part L recommendation. Bringing that depth up, and cross-laying so the second layer covers the joists, is what unlocks the real savings. Done well, you can cut roof heat loss by up to 75%.

  • First layer between joists
  • Second layer cross-laid over joists
  • Tucked tight into eaves with vent trays
  • No compression around services

Eaves ventilation, hatches and downlights — the details people miss

Insulation alone isn't enough. We protect every eaves vent so the roof space keeps breathing, draught-strip and over-board the loft hatch (a huge weak point in most homes), and fit fire-rated caps over any recessed downlights in the ceiling below. These details are what separate a tidy DIY job from a properly engineered, compliant install.

Combine with raised loft boarding for safe storage

Standard loft boarding squashes insulation and undoes most of its benefit. If you also want usable storage, ask us about adding raised loft legs over the new insulation — full thermal performance preserved, plus a flat, walkable platform for storing seasonal items.
