What 270 mm actually looks like

Current Building Regs Part L specifies 270 mm of mineral wool — about the depth of a kitchen-roll tube. We install it as two cross-laid layers: 100 mm between the joists, 170 mm running perpendicular across the top. That kills the thermal bridge through the joists themselves, which a single layer leaves wide open.
